WBD releases latest responsible business report

As a responsible company, Womble Bond Dickinson is committed to creating better places to live, work and do business. Delivering social value is key and our actions reinforce a variety of initiatives.

Each year, we produce a Responsible Business Report to highlight the progress we have made during the year and the goals we are currently working towards.

Our new Responsible Business Framework outlines the work we do within the company with our Ethical Framework at the forefront. We have defined various pillars that make up our responsible business landscape with a focus on environment, social and governance (ESG).

Highlights from our Responsible Business Report 2021/22 include:


  • Reduced carbon emissions across a wide range of activities in line with our goal of net zero emissions by 2030 – focusing on offices, shopping and travel
  • Renewable energy supplied in five of the seven UK offices
  • Moved to The Spark in Newcastle which reduced our space by over 50% and therefore our energy consumption. We have also invested in new technologies, equipment and lighting
  • We have improved our EPC ratings in line with our office renovations, over the past year we have moved to a B in Plymouth.


  • Launching our WBD Disability Network during National Inclusion Week in September 2021
  • 215th place in the Stonewall UK Workplace Equality Index, up almost 250 places to secure the Silver Employer Award
  • Launch of our hybrid working policy to promote better working practices
  • Establishment of a well-being day for all in addition to the right to annual leave. In fiscal year 21/22, 58% of our employees took a wellness day
  • Donated £126,000 to charities working for social inclusion, including a donation of over £70,000 to the Ukraine Crisis Appeal
  • Launch of our new Early Career Program which will target schools located in cold areas of social mobility or non-selective public schools with lower rates of progression to higher or higher education, and above average levels of education. students eligible for free school meals.


  • Launch of Work in Confidence anonymous communication system to foster a safe and respectful work environment
  • Launch of Sustainable Procurement which describes our approach to integrating environmental, economic and social criteria into contractual documents with the aim of motivating suppliers to offer more sustainable products and services.
