The Pennsylvania Department of Insurance and a working group of partner partners will host the Pennsylvania NextGen Insurance Academy August 1-4 in Harrisburg.

The academy is an interactive workshop for college students to provide students with a comprehensive overview of insurance and help them establish career paths.

Insurance professionals from all sectors of the industry will present the program. Courses include state jobs, insurance careers, and observing a controlled car burn to examine ways to identify potential fraud.

In addition, students will receive a tour of the Capitol and will be offered a CV workshop and a job fair. More than a dozen employers are expected at the job fair.

Students will earn a Pennsylvania NextGen Insurance Academy certificate upon completion of the program.

“The NextGen Insurance Academy is a unique opportunity to learn about the different careers within the industry, in fields such as actuarial science, risk management, finance, accounting, public policy, etc.” , Michael Humphreys, Pennsylvania’s acting insurance commissioner, said. “These careers are rewarding and essential in helping individuals and families find financial security for their health, home, business and vehicle.”

The academy is free, but the number of participants is limited. Registration is required.
