State Credit Union Opens Downtown Headquarters > Columbia Business Report

State Credit Union is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony today for its new location in downtown Columbia.

A trio of Columbia-based companies are involved in the three-story, 50,000-square-foot project at 800 Huger St. Hood Construction Co. Inc.. is the entrepreneur, while Boudreaux is the architect and LCK LLC will provide project management services.

“After careful consideration of numerous proposals with our project manager and architectural team, we chose Hood Construction to bring our vision to life,” State Credit Union President Jim Kinard said in a press release. “We hope our members and employees will be pleased with the expense and our new state-of-the-art facility. This ribbon-cutting ceremony symbolizes both our historic growth and a promising future.

Cox & Dinkins of Columbia is the civil engineer, while BELKA Engineering of West Columbia provides electrical engineering services. Mabry Engineering Associates of West Columbia is the structural engineer and MECA Inc. of Columbia is the mechanical engineer.

State Credit Union has branches on Broad River Road, Colonial Drive, and St. Andrews Road, as well as in the Northeast and Lower Richland.

The Huger Street location will consolidate and expand SCU’s headquarters between Greene and College streets. Due for completion next summer, the headquarters will feature a prominent two-story central entrance that connects an existing two-story office space to a three-story addition. The renovated and new space will total nearly 74,000 square feet.

The car wash arrives on rue Gervais

Time to Shine Car Wash Inc. has purchased 1.9 acres at 2006 Gervais Street for the newest location for a state-of-the-art facility.

The company also has a location on Forest Drive and is continuing to expand in the Southeast, according to a press release from Trinity Partners, which facilitated the transaction.

William Mills, Trinity’s senior brokerage partner, represented the car wash in the purchase of the Five Points property.

“The 1,884-acre site sits in a prime Five Points location,” Mills said in the statement. “Time to Shine car washes are known for their very nice facilities, and this new addition to Rue Gervais is sure to add some much-needed color to the hallway.”

The eco-friendly car wash chain will be located opposite The Station in Five Points and next to Cook Out and a mall anchored by Food Lion, The Marketplace in Harden. The property has 200 feet of frontage along Gervais Street.
