SC State Fair Seeks Temporary Workers > Columbia Business Report

The South Carolina State Fairgrounds is looking for temporary workers for the annual 12-day event, scheduled for Oct. 12-23 at SC State Fairgrounds.

Positions available include cookie kitchen attendants, guest services, home and craft attendants, fine arts staff, and marketing interns. Employees get VIP parking, breakfast, free entry for themselves and two passes to share, plus a souvenir hat and t-shirt, between other advantages.

The nominations are available online. Pay ranges from $7.50 to $10 per hour.

“The fun, friendships and excitement of working at the South Carolina State Fair always draw our employees,” said Nancy Smith, general manager of the SC State Fair, in a press release. “Like most of the country, we are also seeing the effects of the current labor shortage. We still have some great temp positions to fill, all of which come with some pretty unique perks.

The fair is hiring 600 employees to work in October, according to the statement. The fair, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting South Carolina’s agricultural roots as well as supporting statewide education, has a annual economic impact of more than $34.4 million, according to the release, and attracts nearly 500,000 visitors annually.
