PPG recently completed its purchase of Arsonsisi’s powder coating manufacturing business for an undisclosed amount.
Arsonsisi is an industrial coatings company based in Milan, Italy.
The purchase includes a powder manufacturing plant in Verbania, Italy, which is highly automated and capable of handling small and large batches. Arsonsisi’s powder business had sales of around $15 million last year.
The purchase will allow PPG to have metal bonding capabilities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
PPG invests in powder production capabilities around the world. Powder coatings can be recovered or reused during application. They have high transfer efficiency, increased durability and offer low emissions of volatile organic compounds.
The company also recently agreed to sell certain activities in Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Gabon and Algeria to Océinde, an industrial group based in France.
PPG employees will join Océinde, and Océinde will continue to offer the existing product line through a licensing and distribution agreement.
Olivier Bouin, currently PPG’s General Manager for Architectural Coatings Africa Overseas and Suriname, will join Océinde as General Manager of the Commercial Architectural Coatings Market in Africa.
Océinde supplies PPG with specialty materials. It engages in a range of business activities, including the distribution and manufacture of architectural coatings, in Europe, the Indian Ocean and Africa.
