Penske Truck Leasing, a Reading-based transportation service provider, and Shell Recharge Solutions North America, a global group of energy and petrochemical companies, recently announced a joint initiative to support light electric vehicle (EV) charging on Penske sites.

Shell Recharge Solutions will design, install and provide charging network support through its SKY software platform as well as maintenance support on Penske’s Level 2 (L2) electric truck charging station network.

It will roll out L2 electric truck charging stations with plug-and-charge capabilities from California, with four more states added later this year and more locations planned for next year.

A total of 33 Penske Truck Leasing locations will receive the technology: 23 in California; three in Washington State; two in Colorado, Illinois and Oregon; and one station will be located in Reading. When completed, it will bring the Penske Shell L2 network to 79 chargers.

“Collaborating with Shell will help us expand and diversify our electric vehicle charging network and support the lightweight electric vans we recently introduced,” said Art Vallely, president of Penske Truck Leasing. “We continue to invest in growing our electric fleet and charging infrastructure to provide more options for customers looking for sustainable fleet solutions.”

Penske Truck Leasing operates more than 1,300 locations worldwide.
