Gray names new leaders in Charlotte

Michelle RobinsonHarper will join gray television as general manager of WBTV, the CBS affiliate in Charlotte.

The appointment is effective September 6. But that’s not the only change in direction at Channel 3.

Gray promoted Shelly HillCrawford to the new position of station manager of WBTV. She took on this role on July 20.

For the past three years, Harper served as managing director of Cox Media Group’s WHBQ-13 in Memphis, sold to Imagicomm. Prior to that, Harper was corporate vice president of sales for Cox Media Group in Atlanta. Previously, she was in Charlotte as a GSM at Cox’s Charlotte Television Stations – WSOC-TV and WAXN-TV.

She has also worked in management and sales with ABC-owned television stations, Capitol Broadcasting, Sinclair Broadcasting, Pappas Telecasting and Seltel National Rep Firm.

Crawford began her broadcasting career when she joined WUPW-TV while attending the University of Toledo. Her career has included research director and/or account executive roles at WTOL-TV in Toledo, Ohio, WCNC-TV in Charlotte, and WOIO/WUAB in Cleveland, Ohio. She has held leadership positions on WBTV’s Community Advisory Board, Diversity Council and Volunteer Committee.
