In line with the guidelines of the Institutional Development Plan, the College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST) at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Ludhiana organized a one-day Technical Conference for Professors and Students (IDP) .
Jaswant Singh Bhandair, Mission Director of the International Improvement Mission, was present as an industry expert at the session. He and his team discussed the importance and purity of milk with attendees. He demonstrated the prototype and the in-house technique he had created to pasteurize milk to extend its shelf life beyond seven days.
During the afternoon session, S. Sandeep Singh Randhawa, President, Punjab Stockbreeders Association and S. Harinder Singh, Manager, Milk Supply, Verka Dairy, Ludhiana graced the occasion as as special guests.
Dr. SK Mendiratta, Dean of the College of Dairy Science and Technology opened the session and discussed the importance of new technologies for the need of the hour to promote the added value of milk at the farm level.
Jaswant Singh Bhandair gave a lecture on “Ethical Dairy Business Plan for India to Double Dairy Farmers Income in One Year” in a very interactive way and discussed some practical innovations to promote value addition to the farm scale. S. Sandeep Randhawa discussed the need to realize the true economic value of milk for the benefit of dairy farmers and highlighted the need for ideas to increase producer incomes.
Harinder Singh shared his lifelong experience in milk supply and handling and focused on maintaining milk quality from farm to fork.
Dr. SK Mendiratta presented the Honorary Award and sent a vote of thanks with special thanks to Dr. SPS Ghuman, Dean, College of Veterinary Science-cum-Principal Investigator, IDP, Dr. YPS Malik, Dean, College of Animal Biotechnology and Dr. JS Bedi, Director of the Center for One Health for providing all kinds of support, facilities and motivation for the organization of this event.
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, congratulated the CODST team for organizing this event and said that these events will help in designing strategies to support farmers from time to time.
