Experience Columbia SC Selects New Group of Local Ambassadors > Columbia Business Report

A new group of Columbia locals have been chosen for the fourth year of Explore Columbia SCambassador program.

Ambassadors offer potential visitors an authentic local perspective and represent regional entrepreneurs, makers, professionals, parents, foodies and creatives. The new ambassadors were announced on Thursday, alongside the release of the Columbia SC 2022 Insider’s Guide.

The 2022 ambassadors are: Michal Mayo, executive director of Palmetto Outdoor tubing and kayak outfitter; Angela Young Sellers, owner of Fit Columbia in Five Points and adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina; Preach Jacobs, a local hip-hop artist and columnist; and Ashley Cady-Elsey, brand and communications consultant.

“At Experience Columbia SC, we work to inspire travel in our region,” said Kelly Barbery, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Experience Columbia, in a press release. “We know that when people travel, they want to go where the locals go. They want to know where the locals eat and what their typical Saturday looks like.

“Our Ambassador Program offers potential visitors the opportunity to see how locals enjoy the Columbia area and shows them how to create those experiences while on their trip.”
