ChristianaCare, a Delaware-based healthcare organization, recently purchased the former Jennersville Hospital in West Grove, which closed Dec. 31, from Tower Health.

The purchase includes the hospital, Tower Health’s interest in two office buildings and 24 acres of land. It does not include staff or medical offices.

The campus will be renamed ChristianaCare West Grove Campus. It remains to be seen what services will be offered.

“At ChristianaCare, we recognize that the closure of Jennersville Hospital has represented a loss of access to important health care services in the surrounding community,” said Dr. Janice E. Nevin, President and CEO of management of ChristianaCare. “ChristianaCare already serves many members of the South Chester County community in our hospitals and practices. We look forward to working with community leaders, listening and assessing needs, and restoring the right mix of health care services to this location.

The transaction is expected to close in 30-60 days.

ChristianaCare already serves residents in southern Chester County. In March, he integrated two primary care practices in West Grove and Jennersville that were part of Tower Health.

ChristianaCare’s network includes three hospitals, a stand-alone emergency department, a level I trauma center and a level III neonatal intensive care unit.
