The Board approved its Board Strategic Plan 2022-2032 in April 2022, giving direction to the administration for the council’s goals for the community over the next 10 years. To achieve these objectives, the administration has developed its own guidance document. These plans, supported by the 50-year community vision — will move the City forward over the next four years.

“I am very happy to present the Company business plan on behalf of the administration. This is something new for the City: a four-year plan to move us forward, ensuring that our core service delivery meets the expectations of the community and council.” said City Manager Sue Howard. “I am proud of the work done by City staff to make this plan a reality. I look forward to our team continuing to serve this community by leading with integrity, trust and resourcefulness.

In its strategic plan, the city council identified four objectives: economy, safety, community and environment. The administration has developed key actions that must be accomplished over the next four years to make progress toward achieving these goals. In addition to meeting Board priorities, three priority administrative areas have been established which will help maintain the organizational strength and service delivery capacity of the organization. Administration priorities include:

• Communication and team collaboration.

• Build a harmonious and dynamic work culture.

• Working together towards our community vision.

There are 28 initiatives identified in the Company business plan in support of Board and management priorities. These initiatives were chosen based on their ability to deliver the best results while ensuring that the administration has the capacity to implement these efforts without compromising service delivery to the community.

With this roadmap in hand, the Company business plan will help the City plan for success and meet challenges with innovation and creativity, while demonstrating to Council the progress made by the administration against its objectives. The plan holds administration accountable while establishing realistic and achievable workloads for City employees.

Moving forward, the Company business plan will help each city department develop their own departmental plans and incorporate the visions of those plans into their priority-based budgets. Administration will report to Council quarterly on the City’s progress on plan initiatives.
