CertainTeed, a Malvern-based developer of innovative and sustainable building products, plans to invest $100 million by 2026 to expand its roofing shingle manufacturing facility in Peachtree City, Georgia.

More than 65,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehousing space will be added, which will more than double production capacity.

This announcement comes a few months after Saint-Gobain, the parent company of CertainTeed, announced its global Grow and Impact strategy. Saint-Gobain is a manufacturer and distributor of materials and services for the construction and industrial markets.

The Georgia plant will include manufacturing equipment and building design upgrades that are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions per unit of production by 14% and reduce water and energy consumption.

“Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter for our Peachtree City plant – it’s an investment in our company’s future ability to supply our growing customer base,” said Carmen Bodden, Vice President and General Manager of CertainTeed Roofing Product Group. “We will continue to look for ways to maximize the positive impact of our business for our customers and the communities where we operate while striving to minimize our environmental footprint.”

More than $5 million in state and local tax incentives over the next decade will support the project.
