What started as an intensive 3-week tuition-free summer for gifted New York teens with a budget of $25,000 has grown in just 7 years into a cutting-edge arts and social justice organization with 6 mentorship programs, artistic training and professional development with a 100% enrollment rate and a growing budget of $800,000.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Manager is an ambitious and sophisticated forward-thinker, communicator, and justice-driven nonprofit professional who thrives in a high-stakes environment and is driven by passion, vision, and excellence. The entrepreneur provides
MOVE|NYC| with a range of administrative, operational and fundraising support operations, while deepening their experience in philanthropic operations, data management and research. The successful candidate will have at least 1-2 years of previous experience in a similar role and responsibilities, a demonstrated passion for arts and arts education, social and racial justice, youth development and empowerment, a alignment with MOVE|NYC|the mission of and its demonstrated commitment to nonprofit management. The successful candidate must be able to work well with all levels of employees, be flexible in nature, have good judgment with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation. The Business Manager is directly supervised by the General Manager and collaborates regularly with the Founders & Artistic Directors. The Business Manager is a full-time, 40 hour per week, non-exempt position with opportunities for advancement. The position primarily requires remote administration, however, please note that annual activities will take place in-person in New York and will require in-person support. As such, all employees must be fully immunized to perform the duties of this position.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The business manager is responsible for maintaining
MOVE|NYC| as a creative and productive work environment and plays a significant role in achieving administration/communications, development operations and other identified organizational goals:

ADMINISTRATION & COMMUNICATIONS (25% of time)
Collaborate on day-to-day administrative projects and correspondence

Coordinate closely with the leadership team to ensure newsletter, social media and website content is designed and released in a timely manner to support fundraising/program priorities and strategy

Manage financial and other onboarding forms/agreements

Propose and write ideas/captions/creative media for fundraising campaigns, execute marketing deliveries, and manage internal functions such as ordering supplies and inventory and archiving records

DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS AND SPECIAL EVENTS (25% of the time)
Provide support for all donation campaigns and fundraising events, including mailings, solicitations, renewals and special appeals, and maintaining accurate records

Manage donor meeting schedules and site visits in addition to their donation solicitation schedule

Manage data maintenance and protocols including processing, tracking and recognition of donors and donations/pledges, leads, pipelines and list/report generation to drive development activities forward

SPECIAL PROJECTS AND EXECUTIVE ASSISTANCE (25% of time)
Support the leadership team in planning/scheduling events, meetings and administration of organizational goals

Drafts agendas and documents for meetings, taking meeting notes and distributing action points

DATABASE OPERATIONS AND SEARCHES (25% of time)
Updates contact information in the database regularly and proactively (for example, follows up and/or searches for alternative contact information when emails bounce or mail is returned)

Generates queries, reports and any other data, ensuring data is accurate and clean

Enter the search in the database and perform searches on demand

MOVE|NYC| is a growing non-profit organization and employees are often called upon to perform other duties necessary to achieve organizational goals and meet important deadlines. This type of work should only be released by that staff member’s direct supervisor and include the relocation of their original work for that period.

PROGRAM
The Business Manager is expected to work 40 hours per week. General working hours are Monday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends are required for annual activities and events.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The range for this full-time non-exempt salaried position is $45,000 to $55,000. As a full-time employee, you are entitled to group health and dental insurance, annual leave, 12 paid holidays, paid sick leave and other benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience & Skills – The successful candidate:

Has a minimum of 1-2 years of administrative experience at the assistant or associate level and the ability to be independent and proactive in their role

A desire to learn and an ability to take initiative, work collaboratively as part of a team and problem solve, see the big picture and pay close attention to detail

Knowledge & Skills:

High level of computer skills with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets

Possesses advanced organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, be thorough, time-saving and work in a fast-paced work environment

Desirable, but not required:

Content generation and strategic skills for marketing

Knowledge of photo/video editing software and CRM database management skills are a plus
