BikeExchange Offers Retail and Manufacturing Customers a Free Cost of Doing Business Report

New initiative as part of BEX’s ongoing efforts to support and promote IBDs and manufacturers; A long-awaited NBAD report key to both in the current climate

Asheville, NC (March 30, 2022) – In the second of their good faith outreach campaign to existing and potential customers, the online bike market BikeExchange (BEX) is once again delivering added value to its members: all current and new BEX clients based in North America will receive the highly anticipated Cost of Doing Business (COB) report from the National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA).

Long considered a benchmark report for doing business in the U.S. cycling industry, the CDB report will be released in July after a seven-year hiatus. This further strengthens BEX’s support for physical retailers as well as direct-to-consumer manufacturers, while promoting the critical importance of deep data in an ever-changing marketplace. The report is worth $399.

The benefits of this offer are manifold, says Heather Mason, president of the National Bicycle Dealers Association. “This is one of our most requested reports, and many members of our community who know it’s coming soon are thrilled. We are grateful beyond words to BikeExchange for their generosity in helping distribute this valuable data.

“The CDB is the only data report of its kind. Retailers can use the information to compare their store with other retailers, both similar and variant,” adds Mason. “This can allow them to spot the differences and make the necessary corrections to improve performance. Bicycle retailers who paid attention to the data from the previous study were guided in modifying and adjusting their activities to achieve a pre-tax net profit on the sale of new bicycles – in some cases, for example, by adding used bikes to their merchandise line. Suppliers and manufacturers can use it as a guide to determine what margins work best for retailers. A brand that understands the real importance of taking action to help its authorized resellers achieve a fair and equitable bottom line will appreciate the data from the CODB study.

The BEX team also looks forward to the report and the opportunity to share it with its customers. “The CDB report is recognized across the industry, and we’re looking forward to seeing this year’s report, especially after the break,” said Derek Colfer, CEO of BEX North America. “But we also know that, especially in an unpredictable market, some businesses might need cash for more urgent expenses. So we thought this would be a good way to get the report out to all of our valued current and potential retailers and DTC brands. »
