Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato College of Business recipients of Faculty Research Awards will discuss their research at the annual conference”College of Business Faculty Research Dayon Friday, April 1 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Centennial Student Union, room 245.

Dean of the College of Business Brenda Flannery will open the event at 9 a.m. by welcoming guests and introducing Drs. Narciso and Luth Tenorio College of Business Lecture Series Endowment.
At 9:10 a.m., guest speaker from Tenorio Research Kathy Lund Dean, Board Distinguished Chair in Leadership and Ethics at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, will give a presentation titled “Using experiential pedagogy effectively and ethically within a community of practice of business school”. Lund Dean’s presentation will be followed by presentations by the four Minnesota State Mankato College of Business Research Award winners (summaries available here).
At 10.15 a.m., Ishuan Li Simonson (Ministry of Finance) will present “The Impact of Financial Literacy on Subprime Mortgages”.
At 10.35 a.m., Byron Pike (Department of Accounting and Business Law) will present “The Effect of a Deliberative versus an Implemental Mindset on Auditors’ Fraud Risk Assessments”.
At 10.55 a.m., Kristin Scott (Department of Marketing and International Business) will present “The Compassionate Consumer: Values and Behaviors in the Marketplace”.
At 11:15 a.m., Leon Chen (Ministry of Finance) and Ferdinand Siagian (Accounting and Business Law Department) will introduce “Analyst Target Price, Stock Performance and Actual Earnings Management”.
Each year, the College of Business hosts a Research Day, during which the college promotes, recognizes, and listens to presentations from award-winning research professors. This opportunity is enhanced by the creation of Drs. Narciso and Luth Tenorio College of Business Research Lecture Series Endowment.
The speaker chosen for Drs. Narciso and Luth Tenorio College of Business Research Lecture Series will alternate between the different programs and academic areas of the College of Business each year. The research committee will represent the faculty and select a guest speaker who is eminent in a research area important to the vision of the College of Business.
Narciso (Norge) and Luth both taught at Minnesota State University at Mankato for more than 30 years, where Norge served as chair of the Business Law Department before retiring. In 2000, Luth Tenorio retired as Dean of Seattle University’s College of Nursing.
